Some of our visitors (or roommates) work for the evil empire and have too much money. We went to the Cannery for dinner with Haoyong. Apparently, they have to protect the port, so all access to Commissioner is restricted and the only way in is through the security guard in a pickup truck at the entrance just off the Second Narrows Bridge (which reduces its usefulness as my usual route for getting back from Deep Cove).

A bus ran my bike off the road around 2:15pm on Granville at Smithe. I was originally in front of the bus at the stop light (heading southbound) so there is no way that the driver didn't see me. He the proceeded to pull up beside me after the light turned green, then pull back to the curb before the rear doors had even passed me, running me into the curb. Grrr... June is bike month. It is now June 17 and they have not yet processed my claim for bike repairs so now I am driving around more than usual.

Update 2003-06-18: I just found out today that ICBC finally got the driver's report. He essentially denied any knowledge of a bike incident that afternoon. I suppose that it was the only thing he could have said that would not totally screw himself since he didn't stop at the time to see if I was okay. I am not really pleased with that outcome, as I was hoping for at least some sort of disciplinary action, and would have been more than willing to get charges pressed. But at least ICBC is going to give me the money to cover repairs (although I am considering using it to just get a newer cheap bike).
